Chip Packet Project NZ

“Turning Waste into Warmth.”

๐Ÿงต What’s it about?

The Chip Packet Project Aotearoa (CPPA) transforms everyday soft plastic waste — like chip packets — into emergency survival blankets for people facing homelessness and hardship across New Zealand.

Each blanket uses around 40 chip packets, heat-fused and backed with donated plastic, creating a waterproof, windproof, and heat-reflective wrap.

It’s upcycling with purpose — protecting people and the planet.

๐Ÿ†Impressive Results!

500+โ€‹Blankets

Do you know someone in your community who is cold in their own homes? People are being asked to make the decision ‘Do I heat or do I eat’?

With your help CPPNZ is striving to reach the target for 2025…1500 blankets made and distributed! Last year 1103 Survival Blankets where distributed throughout NZ. In 2024 those 1103 blankets took over 20,000hrs of volunteer aroha to make. We are grateful to the value our volunteers bring to the project
