Pest Control Project

“Building a Predator-Free Paremoremo, one trap at a time.”

🗣️Introduction

Sustainable Paremoremo is committed to protecting our native bush and birdlife by tackling invasive predators like rats, possums, and stoats. Join us in restoring ecological balance to our community.

🧭Why Pest Control Matters

Invasive species are one of the biggest threats to our native ecosystems. Without intervention, predators destroy eggs, eat chicks, and threaten our future forest canopy. Our efforts are part of New Zealand’s vision for a Predator-Free Aotearoa by 2050.

🪤 How to Request a Predator Trap

Sustainable Paremoremo supports locals to trap pests on their own properties. Here's how the process works:

    ✅ 1. Submit a Trap Request

Go to our [Get Involved] page and fill out the form.
Tick “Set a trap on my property” and include your contact details and a brief description of your property (urban, bush edge, lifestyle block, etc.).

    📞 2. We’ll Contact You

A member of our pest control team will get in touch to:

    • Confirm your location and property suitability

    • Recommend the right trap type (e.g. rat, possum, or mustelid)

    • Provide info on safety and setup

🎁 3. Receive or Pick Up a Trap

    You’ll either:

    • Be invited to pick up the trap from a local SP volunteer, OR

    • Have it dropped off if we’re coordinating multiple deliveries nearby

All traps are free to borrow, though donations are welcome to help us buy more.

📋 4. Track Your Catches (Optional but Encouraged)

We use Trap.NZ [Trap.NZ: SP Project] to log catch data. We can help you:

    • Set up a free account

    • Join the SP project

    • Learn how to enter catches easily online

This helps us build a full picture of pest pressure in Paremoremo.

🙌 5. Stay in the Loop

We’ll send occasional updates or invite you to workshops and volunteer days. You can return the trap anytime if no longer needed.

    📊Live Trap Data
