🌱 Kai Rākau - NZ Food Tree Project

Residents of Paremoremo who regularly drive past the Kai Rākau - NZ Food Tree Project paddock will notice it's had the grass knocked right back to a park-like status!

Plus a HUGE amount of gorse, tobacco plant and 7ft high blackberry has been totally annihilated down the back.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to our chief mowers and clearers Rebecca Steele , Neil Williamson and Kaye Ormsby for all of your hard work clearing our paddock and pathway back up into the park, uncovering community native plants and trees planted over 13 years ago! It's BEAUTIFUL!

Neil's vintage Massey 135 Tractor and our new slasher (partly purchased / partly donated) from local Oliver McArthur has been a game-changer in sorting out the gorse from the native trees! Our funds from the COFFEE, CAKE and FOOD TREES weekends helped pay for the slasher and a watering system for our sub tropical and citrus plants, plus some soil for our grafted heritage apples, pears, plums, figs and special cherry-tree we found that fruit's in our Auckland climate.

So thank you to all who helped and attended those events too!

The community support is phenomenal. GO PARE! Sustainable Paremoremo
